* These

There are a number of ways to wire a home to take advantage of all the
capabilities and
options that are available from a satellite dish today and in the future.
In our local service area
we design and install Master-Satellite-Antenna-Surveillance systems. This
sounds more
complicated than it is. I have made literally thousands of drawings for
home owners,
contractors, and installers over the last 30 years. I should have made
copies. I am compiling
all this information into an easy to understand manual. This will be available
soon.
1. Q:
Will I be able to receive Local Channels from the Satellite?
A: Right now, there
are a large number of major cities, that carry local channels. Click here
to
view the list. The list is growing and Dish Network has just launched
another satellite with new
technology to carry even more areas. Back to Top
2. Q: It's really FREE, won't cost me anything?
A: Yes, it can be,
but every installation is different. Sometimes there are obstacles that
are not
covered under basic installation. There are options or features that you
may want, which may
take extra wiring or accessories. Back to Top
3. Q: What is the warranty?
A: The manufacturer's
warranty is one-year parts and labor. Under the Digital Home Program,
Dish Network covers repairs as long as you are part of the program.

4. Q: How does it compare to cable?
A: I honestly don't
know of any cable system that Dish Network doesn't "blow away"
in
picture quality, in sound quality, and in the number of channels offered.

5. Q: Is this digital?
A: Yes and no. A
digital signal is delivered to the satellite receiver from the dish, but
the
processed signal is then converted to an analog signal that can be viewed
on any TV on
channel 3 or 4. Back to Top
6. Q: Will I be able to receive HDTV?
A: Dish Network does
have a High Definition Satellite Receiver, but it is not offered on their
Digital Home Program today. It is the Model 6000 - it works absolutely
great, but it does
take another dish which is pointed in a different direction. Back

7. Q: My TV is old, will it work with satellite?
A: Yes, if it is
really old you may need an adapter. Back to Top
8. Q: Are the channels the same as the channels on cable?
A: Yes, they are
the same channels, but usually Dish Network offers more choices. For
example, HBO will have extra feeds that vary in the kind of programming
and different time
zones. Back to Top
9. Q: Are there adult channels?
A: Yes, monthly subscription
and pay-per-view. Back to Top
10. Q: Can I control what my children watch?
A: Yes, the parental
control works great, is easy to operate and does not limit you. Back
to Top
11. Q: I still can't program my VCR; will I be able
to operate satellite TV?
A: Yes, you will
- and I say this with confidence. In addition to the installer and the
instruction book, Dish
Network even has channels to teach you. Back to
Top
12. Q: What if my credit is not good? Back
to Top
A: Dish Network understands
and has programs to help people just like you.
13. Q: How many TV's can I hook up?
A: I get this question a lot! It's a question that can really confuse
people. Let me just say that
we can satisfy your needs. One point to think about is that a single satellite
receiver is capable
of one channel at a time. (This is also changing.) Back
to Top
14. Q: What about sports?
A: Lots and lots
of sports! If you are asking about a package called the NFL Sunday Ticket,
it is not available on Dish Network yet. Back to Top
15. Q: I have trees, will I still be able to get a dish?
A: If trees are in
the direction the dish needs to point, they can block the signal and it
will not
work. In my experience over 99% of the time we have been able to find
a way or a location
that works. Sometimes it does cost more. The installer must be very careful
when
installation is done during the winter with no leaves on the tree. It
could work great until the
leaves fill in and then not work at all. Back to
Top
16. Q: I live in a neighborhood that doesn't allow dishes
or antennas on roofs - what can I do?
A: The law is on
your side! Even if you have a choice because you have no obstructions
in
the southern sky. Back to Top
17. Q: I have a motor home, can I take the satellite
system with us when we go to Canada on
vacation?
A: Yes, there are
a lot of ways to use it and install it on and with your motor home. It
will
work in Canada. Dish Network does not have an agreement with Canada to
sell programming
up there, but is does work - I just don't know how far north. If I can
get a better answer, I will,
email me if you need to know
more. Back to Top
18. Q: Can I record on my VCR?
A: Yes, with direct
video/audio hookups and either channel 3 or 4. Back
to Top
19. Q: Can I record one channel and watch another?
A: Basic answer is
yes. But
.what two channels are we talking about; how many receivers
did
you request; where are the receivers located? Back
to Top
20. Q: Will we be able to receive the WB and UPN channels?
A: Yes. I watch them
myself, so I hope this doesn't change. Back to Top
21. Q: How many pay-per-view channels, and how much
to buy a movie?
A: There are 21 channels
that carry regular "fairly new release" movies, which cost $3.99
per
movie for the entire day. Plus adult and pay-per-view sports, which have
different costs. Back to Top
